Good news: real display driver coming up
Although it will not be available tomorrow, news is that Intel will provide a (good) working driver for the Gallium3D framework. If this new driver stack really ends up shipping by the end of this year or early next year, it will likely be the first complete driver that's showing off the Gallium3D a...

Re: New repository for fit-PC2
This is a great improvement over the early released support.
I suggest you make a meta-package, something like "linux-fitpc" or something that depends on all the packages you listed above.
Maybe you can integrate the rt3090 driver as well?
Thanks

Re: Ubuntu 8.04 CD not seeing internal hard drive?
Add the "all_generic_ide" option to the kernel parameters in grub.
This forces Linux to use the basic ide driver, which does detect your hard disk.
You need the "pata_sch" module to get some real performance out of your harddisk, but that module is not always available in older distributions.

Re: Fit-PC2 1,1GHz as AV media server?
I have the 1.6 GHz version, but I may shed some light on your scenario. Processor speed becomes a bottleneck if you have to perform a lot of logic/complex operations on data. I cannot really say for your case whether your AV functionality requires a lot of cpu effort, or whether it is just serving f...

Re: Video acceleration gone after update
Try this: cp -r /home/fit/.mplayer/ /home/newuser/ chown -R newuser:newuser /home/newuser/.mplayer/ Replace 'newuser' with the username of your new account. This copies the settings of mplayer to the home directory of your new user. Maybe a better approach (and should have been done by CompuLab) is...

Re: Server (web and file)
I installed http://ebox-platform.com/ on my FitPC2. It works fine, although the most recent development version (1.1.20) does require some "expert" linux knowhow. After it is installed correctly, everything runs smooth. When I find the time, I will write up the details on how to accomplish such a se...

Re: Temperatures and battery?
I have never seen any pc capable of reading the charge of the CMOS battery.
Also, it would be almost impossible that multiple users report the same 84% charge!

Re: Ubuntu recovery image now available
The only problem that I've had is with the wifi card. The computer sees it as an unknown device, and I have no way of operating it. I have the RT3090 card in the computer. Anyone have issues with this? I've hit the same issue. It appears the driver for the RaLink 3090 card is not included in the re...
