Re: 3.5" drive
"Would there be a risk in running a fit-pc2i without the case, or with a different case . . . " You can probably achieve the same result more elegantly by using a M-F SATA lead (takes a little hunting) to connect the Fit-PC to an externally-mounted, self-powered disk drive. I've done it with a 2.5" ...

Re: Some small suggestions for fit-pc2
It's not a question of a shorter plug but one with the proper diameters. Everything I've tried (I need to use a linear PSU, not the stock SMPS) either doesn't fit at all or is a tiny bit too loose so, if you so much as touch it, the Fir-PC2 freezes, presumably due to a little "brownout". For now, I'...

The Fit-PC2 as a high-end audio PC
Some forum members might be interested in this report on using the Fit-PC2 in a high-end PC-audio replay system: http://cplay.sourceforge.net/pmwiki.php?n=CMP.Headless For background, see: http://cplay.sourceforge.net/pmwiki.php?n=CMP.01WhyPCs and the cPlay site as a whole. It took a while to work r...

Re: Some small suggestions for fit-pc2
[quote="irads"] . . . future power plugs will soon have shorter metal plug . . .
It would be very useful if you could either provide a source for these plugs or offer them for sale as I cannot find the right size in the UK (though I now have a box full of nearly-rans).
TIA
Dave

Re: Boot without periferals
This was an issue with the Fit-PC2 but it was resolved by a new driver. Go to: http://www.fit-pc2.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=601 download the "no detect" driver and follow Irad's procedure near the end of the thread. You need a local monitor for initial set up but otherwise it's just fine. HTH D...

Re: Display driver for headless operation
Thanks for your prompt reply. Yes, I did. 1. I loaded the OS (inc new driver) onto the Fit-PC2 on the bench with a monitor connected. 2. I moved the Fit-PC2 to a different setup this time without a monitor. That, it seems to me, should replicate what you ask me to do. The display reverted to 480 x 6...

irads wrote: This driver does not try to detect the display before loading and setting resolution. I installed the "no detect" driver using setup.exe. Device Manager recognises it. However, if no monitor is connected on power-up, the display defaults to 640 x 480, 32-bit. This is slightly better tha...
