240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 Desktop Memory Model
(CORSAIR 16GB (2 x 8GB) CMV16GX3M2A1333C9)

I think it uses SO-DIMM DDR3 (which has 204 pin, so your memory does not seem to be the right one).

Thanks, this is what I'm concerned about. So its laptop memory I guess it wants. For example:
Patriot Signature Laptop Memory - 8GB, PC3-10600, DDR3-1333MHz, 1.5V, CL9, Non-ECC, Unbuffered
Model#: PSD38G13332S

I am wondering whether I can install only 1 module (and the 2nd leave free for later extension) or whether the modules has to be installed in couples?

I don't know either. I imagine it has to be in pairs. I'll know when I get my IntensePC but thats not scheduled for like over a month.

You don't have to use a pair of a RAM modules. One module will work fine

Will the Intense PC Pro i7 work with either 1.35V or 1.5V memory? Also I imagine that it does not allow ECC, but could you verify that?

Is the only reason a Pro i7 is limited to 16GB (2 x 8GB) of memory is because no one manufactures 16GB modules?

There is only 1.5v memory supported, with no ECC

This is Intel's CPU limitation
