Hi,
I've had my fit pc2 for almost a year now but recently it has been printing the following message in the dmesg output:
NETDEV WATCHDOG: eth0: transmit timed out
r8169: eth0: link up
Whenever this happens, the network traffic to/from the fit-pc2 stalls. I'm running Debian Lenny on it with kernel 2.6.26-2-686. Does the message above indicate a hardware error with the NIC? Has anyone else had the same problem before perhaps? Is there anything else I could try to find out the cause of this problem?
Any help, hint, tips are welcome.
Thanks,
Johan

Re: NETDEV WATCHDOG: eth0: transmit timed out
You may want to ensure that the problem is not with your network gear - for example by connecting directly to another computer (no need for cross cable, there is auto detection of TX/RX) and running some traffic.
Also, if something has changed recently with your software setup, this could affect Ethernet behavior.
I suggest before RMA, try to reproduce the problem with the software setup supported by CompuLab - e.g. Ubuntu 9.10

Re: NETDEV WATCHDOG: eth0: transmit timed out
There are some posts and even a bug report for this behavior, but it should have been fixed by now. Interesting, that this happens after working well for quite some time. You might want to check [1], [2] and [3].
