Hi,
When will the updated BIOS supporting SATA III will be released? It was promised almost a month ago on another thread.
Thanks,
Jean
No SATA III on fitPC3
Re: No SATA III on fitPC3
We apologize for the delay. The new BIOS will be released until 20/Sep/2012.
Re: No SATA III on fitPC3
BIOS with SATA-III support has been released at http://www.fit-pc.com/wiki/index.php/Fi ... _ROM_Files.
Re: No SATA III on fitPC3
It does not work. Even with the new BIOS my SATA III drive is still running at SATA II speed.
Re: No SATA III on fitPC3
Hi,
1. Check the version of the BIOS. It should be SBC_2.1.0.333_12.
2. Check that SATA Mode in the BIOS settings: AMD->chipset Settings->Sata Settings. It should be set to the SATA 3.
3. What storage device do you use?
4. How do you test the speed of the storage device?

Hi Leonid,
I posted the answers for all these questions in the other thread: "Mint claims SATA-II controller" but nobody from Compulab seems to read it!
Re: No SATA III on fitPC3
So here it is again. This has been posted since last Wednesday without any answers.
I just flashed the BIOS and made sure SATA 3 was choosen in the BIOS and although the controller now seems to be recognized as SATA 6 Gps my mSATA Crucial M4 CT032M4SSD3 SSD is still running at SATA II 3.0 Gps. This is a SATA III 6 Gps drive. My other drive is a Seagate ST250LT003 SATA II 3.0 gps.
Running Mint 13 Mate 64 bits installed as per the instructions on the wiki.
Am I missing something here?
Regards,
Jean

Hi, I just did a test with Disk Utility.
279 Mb/s read speed for the mSATA SSD. This looks like SATA II speed only.

Jean
Just to be sure that the mSATA Crucial SSD support SATA III, I ran hdparm -I /dev/sdb as root.
Here is the relevant output:
* Gen1 signaling speed (1.5Gb/s)
* Gen2 signaling speed (3.0Gb/s)
* Gen3 signaling speed (6.0Gb/s)
It does indeed support the 3 SATA modes and the asterix beside them indicate they are all enabled.

Re: No SATA III on fitPC3
One week and still no answer to this problem from anybody at Compulab.
I should have bought a Mac Mini instead.

Re: No SATA III on fitPC3
I am sorry for the late answer. We are during our our Holiday season until the end of the month, which reflects on the reply times.
From your post, I see you are using mSATA SSD drive. The mSATA interface provides officially only SATA I interface. To get advantage of a SATA III interface, you should use the 2.5" SATA interface.

Re: No SATA III on fitPC3
Wrong. I get SATA II on the mSATA drive. And when you say "officialy" you must be talking about Compulab personel only because the rest of the world is using/selling SATA III 6 Gps mSATA drives. Since the begining in 2009 mSATA support SATA I and II.gabrielh wrote: The mSATA interface provides officially only SATA I interface. And why did Igor told me this on another thread: "...although we have not tested explicitly the SATA channel connected to mSATA, it is the same controller. So the BIOS fix should apply to mSATA as well."
As a customer I get the feeling that I am paying a high price for being your beta tester.
