I had this problem when my fit-pc2 arrived, but solved it by not rebooting , i.e.,
leaving the machine on permanently. But now that the weather is
hot, I don't want to do this and am suspending or turning off
between sessions.
When restoring or booting, about 1 in 3 times the ethernet just fails. /etc/init.d/networking restart says OK, but I can't ping anything outside the machine, not
on my local network or the internet.
Any clues? or ways to restart the ethernet hardware without rebooting?

Re: intermittent ethernet failure
Ooops forgot the "notify me flag"
Re: intermittent ethernet failure
I'm seeing this too. Check out this thread: http://www.fit-pc2.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1301
Using only GV3 seems to have worked for me. I still need to try the other things (max cstate and processor_latency) that were suggested later in the thread with 2.6.31.
